Robert received the award because he promotes the interests of the local community via:
- Second largest employer after Uppingham School (100+ people)
- Rescued Don Paddy’s and has created a very special atmosphere.
- Chairs Uppingham First which produced a 25 year plan for Uppingham and has negotiated a £25k broadband grant to improve Uppingham’s communications.
Robert is also a successful entrepreneur, is fair-minded and has successfully campaigned to improve behaviour in Uppingham town centre at night. Robert is a devoted family man. He and his wife and children live in Stamford but everyone knows he is really ‘Mr Uppingham’.
